My Bio
I am just a regular guy, a photographer, a caffeine-addict, a Thai food lover, the average beer-drinking bastard, an artist, a hater, adventurer, friend, dude and your scariest nightmare. Some say I am pretty funny and awesome but what do they know...

I do Facebook, so add me there if you care. Just click here and then the little thumbs-up will take you there. I also tend to add some random facts to my twitter every once in a while. (Mostly a shameless self-promotion, just be warned.)

I do sell my work on my website. I print on archival quality paper, offer image licensing at standard rates for print and web and also provide photo retouching services. Contact me if anything is up your alley.

I am easily inspired, I like to travel and to spend some quality time outdoors. I sleep in a tent in subzero temperatures if I know the light that following morning will be worth it and sometimes even when I know it's going to suck. Talking of which, hiking at night in bear country is not one of the things I particularly enjoy.

I have the weird feeling that the inspiration field is fairly small, so if you feel you need to know more about great friends, photography monsters and sometimes both in the same person, here you go: (in no particular order)... Galen Rowell, Marc Adamus, Ryan Dyar, Miles Morgan, Stephen Oachs, Brian Rueb, Guy Tal, Joshua Cripps, Floris van Breugel, Jim Patterson, Scott Davis, Zack Schnepf, Chip Phillips, Jason Edlund, Justin Reznick, Kevin Pieper, Vincent Favre, Kah Kit Yoon, Seung Kye Lee, David Bank, Ian Plant, Joseph Rossbach and more. That will keep you busy for a while, googling these guys. ;-)

A quick update!

Sorry for not being around much these days. I hope I returned all messages - at least. This summer, I've been busy traveling through the Pyrenees, met up with my good friend Brian Rueb to tackle Cinque Terre (a stretch of the Italian coast that begs to be photographed), Venice and some pretty amazing spots in the Bavarian Alps. Albeit weather did not cooperate much at all, it was a very fruitful trip; and now enjoy what's probably the most intense fall color in the past 50 years, or so I've been told. If you want to stay ahead of things and always see the latest image first, please consider following me on Facebook or 500px; as these sites

Time For...

... yet another shameless plug. Sorry for the absence as of late. Things have been fairly crazy around the office but here's some exciting news for me. (and I hope it's somewhat interesting for at least some of you, too.) Since its launch, I have been active on Google+. Recently, the great photographer Ivan Makarov announced an idea to make a book featuring the growing community of Google+ photographers, offer it for sale and donate the profits to a charity. Fast forward a couple of weeks, amazing efforts on the side of Ivan and the 15 volunteers helping putting this together, 523 contributing photographers, countless votes, discussions an

Interview

0 min read
Hey folks, been some time since my last little update and due to the restricted time, this will just be a short link to an interview I recently gave for Tristan Jud's blog called RAW. So if you want to know a little more about me, how I started photography and what my favorite images are, head over to raw.tristanjud.com/2011/06/interview-with-david-richter and share with friends if you like. Happy shooting! David

I was wondering how long you have been taken photographs? And if it was ok if I posted some of your work on Tumblr, I will cite you of course. I have started a blog called 'Is it Craft, Art, or Design' and was hoping to place three or four in a post together as my first photography installment. Thanks for your time.
