A quick update!

1 min read
Sorry for not being around much these days. I hope I returned all messages - at least.

This summer, I've been busy traveling through the Pyrenees, met up with my good friend Brian Rueb to tackle Cinque Terre (a stretch of the Italian coast that begs to be photographed), Venice and some pretty amazing spots in the Bavarian Alps. Albeit weather did not cooperate much at all, it was a very fruitful trip; and now enjoy what's probably the most intense fall color in the past 50 years, or so I've been told.

If you want to stay ahead of things and always see the latest image first, please consider following me on Facebook or 500px; as these sites will always see the images first.

My wall calender 2013 - "Element of Life" is now available through Red Bubble: www.redbubble.com/people/david…

... yet another shameless plug.

Sorry for the absence as of late. Things have been fairly crazy around the office but here's some exciting news for me. (and I hope it's somewhat interesting for at least some of you, too.)

Since its launch, I have been active on Google+. Recently, the great photographer Ivan Makarov announced an idea to make a book featuring the growing community of Google+ photographers, offer it for sale and donate the profits to a charity.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, amazing efforts on the side of Ivan and the 15 volunteers helping putting this together, 523 contributing photographers, countless votes, discussions and hang-outs and there it is: plusonecollection.com/.

The Limited Edition is $200 and available till Feb-20-2012. So grab your copy before that date and receive a 200-page book with 193 fine art prints on museum quality paper and a special print with each order; one of the 193 images in the book, is my image "Granite Reflections", which can be seen here:

and in the Bay Area NBC feature here: youtu.be/xULDmaEIeyg [0:35-0:38] (Special thanks to Thomas Hawk for recording it and making it available!)

plusonecollection.com/purchase/purchase-print-book/

All net profits from the sale of the book (normal and limited edition), e-book and app (coming soon and featuring all 523 photographs.) will be donated to the charity KIVA.

Then, I have been fortunate to contribute to an amazing online magazine called CameraPixo.
Be sure to check it out if you have a chance. The latest version can be found online here: issuu.com/camerapixo/docs/camerapixo17/ and will very soon be available for download. My portfolio is on page 260-279.

Ready, set, go.

Best,
David

Interview

1 min read
Hey folks, been some time since my last little update and due to the restricted time, this will just be a short link to an interview I recently gave for Tristan Jud's blog called RAW. So if you want to know a little more about me, how I started photography and what my favorite images are, head over to raw.tristanjud.com/2011/06/interview-with-david-richter and share with friends if you like.

Happy shooting!

David

I just posted a tutorial about a non-destructive way to dodge and burn your images in Photoshop on my blog, complete with PS CS5 action for download - free. A PDF version of the tutorial to save on your hard drive is available also.

Head over to my blog: davidrichterphotography.com/bl… and start dodging! ;-)

Two weeks ago, I joined deviantart on recommendation of Steven Davis, who I had the pleasure to meet during my three month whirlwind trip through the western US. He recently returned from a light show provided by Mother Nature in Death Valley, so make sure to check out his excellent work.

To cut things short, today I received my first Daily Deviation and came to the realization that I simply won't be able to thank each and everyone of you for sheer amount of nice comments and favorites received. So this is where this journal entry kicks in. THANK YOU! I appreciate the support and encouragement and will hopefully be able to add more quality content in the future.

Right now I am in the process of revamping my website, which is the reason no content was added there lately. It will feature a nifty shopping cart, wallpaper downloads and easier viewing and navigation, all packed in a slick paint job with CSS3 and jQuery under the hood. If you see anything you like here on deviantart or on my flickr, be sure to contact me for printing and image licensing purposes.

Again, thank you all! I really appreciate it!!!
