In 1876, the discovery of a profitable deposit of gold-bearing ore transformed Bodie from an isolated mining camp to a classic Wild West boomtown with approximately 5,000 to 7,000 inhabitants at peak, making it California's second or third largest city at the time but all the glory is long gone and now, the remnants of the past can be enjoyed; as seen here under a huge lenticular cloud forming during a forceful dust storm blowing over the high plateau.
Beautiful colours throughout, and the image is very well finished. From a balance point of view, I would have preferred to see the path come in from the bottom right corner to balance the clouds bias to the left of the image.
Thanks for the kind words and well-meant comment. I worked quite a bit on the scene and wanted to include the little church tower just to the right of the buildings in the front. This was the only composition that really showed a clear definition between the buildings and the church tower. Appreciate your thoughts though!
