Granite Reflections by davidrichterphoto Granite Reflections by davidrichterphoto
The view roughly 150ft. above Upper Cathedral Lake with the reflecting Cathedral Peak in the warm evening light is one of the many joys of Yosemite National Park and the High Sierra Nevada, California.

Thanks! Yeah, something like that. Singh-Ray LB warming polarizer and SR 2-stop soft-edge GND, if I recall it correctly.

And well done to you! It's really quite breathtaking! Did you do any complex postproduction? I'm curious because I find my best pix are those that are taken right first time (and luck, of course!)
:)

Why thank you. Not sure what exactly you mean with "complex", but there was some processing involved. I shoot in RAW only, which means when the files come from the camera, they are flat and uninspiring to say the least.

Contrast, minor color adjustments, some texture work and in this image, a little dodging and burning was involved. Certainly nothing I would classify as complex, but I might have different measurements than most.

You're welcome! I was thinking of doing tricky things like layers with Photoshop or GIMP. Perhaps dodging and burning are the first steps into "complex"! :)

It was a done in roughly 20 minutes in from card to ACR to Photoshop, if that helps. Complex, for me, starts at 2+ hours, multiple layer blends, luminosity painting, etc. --- So like I said, different approaches, I guess. :)

However, I am a great believer in a non-destructive workflow, so work in layers is not what I would call complex per se, but rather something elemental, something that I can always come back to when a print doesn't come out the way I want it, without having to run through the same steps again.

I'm impressed. But then, I'm pretty new to the whole digital post production for still camera work. I've got a long way to go!
