Gold Swirl by davidrichterphoto Gold Swirl by davidrichterphoto
I once again returned to one of my favorite spots along this little creek, tugged away in lush beech growth; now in its glowing fall dress. The sun burning through a high layer of fog provided just the right amount of light to make the golden hues really pop. This is a manual blend of three exposures; background at f/6.3 to freeze the leaves from blowing around during the exposure too much and sharp detail throughout. The other two exposures were shot at f/10 for the swirl action and safety reasons such as masking out a leave that left a yellow streak across the image while falling down during the exposure.

One of the most stunning nature shots I have seen in a while. The blend of sharp background and a unique action in the foreground gives the shot perfect balance, and I'm in love with the strong green/yellow colour tone. Amazing.

Colors this year are pretty spectacular on this side of the pond---maybe the best I have ever seen. Especially the beeches and maples are going nuts. Pretty much what I heard from the east of the US. Best in 10 years they say. Enjoying it to the fullest - for once.

Great color! Bit of an Orton effect as well? I think the framing here is wonderful but once you're in the frame, things seem a bit chaotic.

My own twist of an Orton effect... <AtmoGlow> if you want... haha! Very minor though. If you don't click on the image to view full size, DA has that compression effect on all images.

I see where you're coming from and agree, but a certain degree of chaos comes with any fall scene unless you clean the scene of all debris and leaves you don't like. ;)
