The official name of this little known jewel in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon is Lancaster Falls, named after Samuel C. Lancaster, an engineer responsible for the construction of much of the original Columbia River Gorge Highway (which is an awesome drive by the way!). Aptly named, I'd say.

Yeah, it's one of the lesser visited spots in the Gorge. Albeit, not less beautiful than others, just harder to reach.

How far is the hike? I will have to Google it. :)

I'd say about a mile, maybe a little more and about 200ft. gain in elevation. Not too bad. If you made it to Fairy Falls, this should be an easy task.

I wussed out on Fairy Falls in December because of the cold. I was ill equipped and unprepared for the weather. I hope to get back up there once the weather improves. :)

I can only imagine Fairy Falls covered in ice. Saw a video of it and loved it but the scramble up and down the steep switchbacks... A tough ride for sure.

I think the moss and lichen covered trees make the whole area look like straight from a fairytale. Gotta love the Pacific Northwest!
